Introduction: There are many kinds of games in Bangladesh. But all of them are not our country games. The games that are played in our country are called country games. The game of the Ha-du-du is one of the most interesting country games.
Its identity: Ha-du-du is an outdoor game in our country. It is our national game. It is delightful exciting and thrilling. It is mainly played in rural areas in our country.
Its advantages: It has some advantages over other outdoor games. It is a simple and harmless game. It can be played without spending much money. It also can be played on a small ground.
Its field: The field of Ha-du-du is divided into two equal parts. A line is drawn across the middle of the ground.
Its teams: Two teams take past in a Ha-du-du game. There is no limit on the players in each team. But each team must have an equal number of players.
Beginning: An umpire conducts the game. It starts with the whistle of the umpire.
How it is played: One of the players of a team takes his breath and goes into the other team boundary. He utters all along with the words “Ha-du-du” holding his breath and tries to touch a player or more of the opposite team. If he can touch and reach his own court, he remains in life. But if he is caught or touched when he is out of breath, he is dead. The game comes to an end when all the players of a party are dead. The other party having its players alive is declared a winner in the game.
The present condition of the game: The game of Ha-du-du has now taken the color of international games. Many countries of South-East Asia have been taking part in this game. In recent years India and Bangladesh took part in the competition.
Usefulness: Ha-du-du makes our body strong. It is less dangerous than other games. It also teaches us the value of unity and discipline.
