Paragraph On Our National Memorial

Our National Memorial is our pride. It symbolizes the respect of the nation for the martyrs of the war of liberation. It is located at Savar in Dhaka but rhetorically it is located in our hearts. It is built with concrete but made of blood. It stands 150 feet tall but for every martyr, it stands for so much taller. It is an achievement the dimensions of which can be measured but it stands for an achievement that is immeasurable. It stands upright for the millions of martyrs who laid down their lives so that we may stand upright in honour and dignity amongst the nations of the world. Its foundation was laid on the first anniversary of Victory Day in 1972. There is actually a plan to build a huge complex in several phases. The whole complex will cover an area of 126 acres. The plan of this complex includes a mosque, a library, and a museum. The relics of the liberation war will be kept in the museum. They will ever remind our countrymen and all who would come to visit the museum of the valiant struggle and supreme sacrifices of freedom-loving people. There also will be a clear warning to all oppressors that the weapons of freedom need not be very big and that oppression will always be defeated. The will of the people prevails, for man is born to be free. The most touching sight of the complex is the several graves of the martyred freedom fighters, close to the tower. Standing in front of the graves, we bow down our heads in respect, as the towers soar up symbolizing the loftiness of their spirit. In fact, our National Memorial stands as a symbol of our honour and dignity as an independent nation.

I have read much about “The National Museum” in textbooks and newspapers. I have been cherishing a dream of visiting the national museum which is situated at shah bag in Dhaka for a long time. One day I got an opportunity to visit the national museum when I went to my elder brother’s house in Dhaka. He lives in Bangladesh. On Friday I accompanied by my brother went to shah bag by bus. We bought two tickets for entrance into the museum. We entered and went to the first floor of the building which is the starting point of the exhibition. At first, we saw a big map of Bangladesh in which every district and even Upazilas are marked by lights. Then we started to see all the things one after another. There are so many things to see in the museum that one cannot believe without seeing with one’s own eyes. Among them, the skeleton of the whale, sculptures, the world-famous Maslin share, nakshi Katha, the images of wild animals, musical instruments and different types of coins of the past, war weapons are noteworthy. On the second floor, the pictures of renowned and historical figures of our country are preserved. I have enriched my knowledge by seeing the things used in our liberation war. We had to spend about two and a half an hour for observation of all the things. I gathered practical experience by visiting our culture, tradition, heritage, history, and liberation war in the national museum.
