Paragraph On Gender Discrimination in Bangladesh

Gender discrimination refers to the absence of fairness of treatment between men and women. In other words, it signifies a condition in which men and women are not looked at with the same attitude and mindset in all circumstances. Unfair dealing with the female is seen everywhere in society. History shows that women had been treated very unfairly and even cruelly in many societies and countries. They had been deprived of many social, political, economic, and even familial rights and privileges. They were considered subservient to their male counterparts and confined only to the four walls of their family. The human rights of women throughout the Middle East and North Africa are systematically denied by each of the countries in the region despite the diversity of their political systems. Some restrictions put by the government of this region adversely affect women and women have become subject to a host of additional specific human rights violations. In our country gender discrimination begins at birth. Here girls are born into an unwelcome world and confined only to domestic chores. Society treats them with disgust and dishonor. They are looked upon as the weaker section of society. They are meant only for doing household work within the confines of the house for childbearing, child caring, and homemaking. This discriminatory treatment affects the girls physically, mentally, and socially. As a result, they develop a sense of self-effacement, self-denial, and inferiority that persist throughout their life. But we should bear in mind that women constitute about half of our total population. So, they can contribute to the development of our county like men without their equal participation and contribution no development is possible. So we should ensure equal treatment to males and females.
