Early Marriage Or Child Marriage
Early marriage or child marriage refers to a wedding between a young boy and a young girl before they attain maturity. Early marriage or child marriage is largely seen in poverty-ridden families in the slums of towns and cities or in villages. The parents of their families become unable to provide them with the basic necessities of life and send them to school for education. So poverty and lack of awareness force those poor parents to get their daughters married instead of sending them to school. Being a victim of early marriage, girls become an object of physical torture which shatter their normal life. They suffer from different health hazards like malnutrition, and anemia which make them vulnerable to premature death. In such a condition of her health weak baby is born with different complications. For all these masons this practice of child marriage or early marriage should be stopped by any means. To eradicate this problem, female education should be encouraged at first. Social awareness should be increased. Superstitious beliefs and outlooks of the parents towards their daughters should be changed immediately. New laws discouraging early marriage should be enacted. It is a hope that our government has already imposed a ban on marrying a girl before 18 and a boy before 21. This is a positive sign for us. Some other positive steps have been taken by the government such as giving stipends to girls, recruiting more female teachers, etc. All these steps will discourage child marriage or early marriage at least to some extent.
