Human Resource Management
Introduction:
Human Resource Management (HRM) is the management of an organization’s
employees. This includes employment and attribution in accordance with the land
and with a company’s directives. It is the function within an organization that
focuses on requirements, management, and providing direction for the people who
work in the organization. It deals with issues related to people compensation,
hiring, performance management, organization development, safety, benefits,
employee motivation, communication, administration, and training.
Utilization of Human Resources: Bangladesh is a developing country. It has plenty of
resources. But all its resources have not been fully utilized yet. It has
plenty of unused, unexplored natural resources which can help to build many new
industries. Its agriculture is also rich potentially. Among all the resources
of Bangladesh, human resource is the most important. If this resource can be
utilized productively the huge population of Bangladesh can become a powerful
source of human energy to build its economy. To utilize this huge population a
number of measures for technical training, vocational guidance and promotion of
employment have recently been taken by the government of Bangladesh.
Function of human resource management: Generally human resource management deals
with four basic activities such as staffing, training and development,
motivation and empowerment, and maintenance. In terms of staffing aspect human
resource management deals with job analysis, planning recruitment and selection,
guidance, and placement. In terms of the training and development aspect, it focuses
on induction and socialization, training development, career development,
organizational development, etc. in terms of motivation and empowerment, it
focuses on organization design motivation and job satisfaction, payment of
salary and wages, employee benefit, build up employee commitment, etc. finally
in terms of maintenance aspect it deals with safety and health, labour
management relation communication, counseling, discipline, etc.
Importance of human resource management: Now-a-days human resource management is
considered to be the most important aspect of the success of any organization.
It not only works for employee’s betterment but also ensures the overall business
environment of an organization. Human resource management acts
as a strong and effective bridge between top management and lower-level employees and helps upper management to connect with other senior members
of a firm.
Human resource management in Bangladesh: In developed countries, human resource
management emphasizes a wide range of functional knowledge, skill, and
competencies as well as a sound understanding of its process and functions. Human resource management in Bangladesh needs to be able to make the best
use of time and talent to achieve organizational goals. Bangladesh has limited
national resources but it has vast human resources. If we want to survive as
a respectable nation we must develop our human resources as human capital. We
need to create new economic activities and invent newer ways of utilizing our
human capital.
Conclusion: The success of any organization whether it is a business, social or political organization, depends on the proper utilization of its human resources. It is a strategic approach to the management of an organization. It is actually the process involved in managing people in the organization to get the highest benefits.
