Notesaid24 ওয়েবসাইটে আপনাদের স্বাগতম। গত ব্লগে Narration বা উক্তি কাকে বলে? এবং কত প্রকার ও কি কি? এই নিয়ে বিস্তারিত আলোচনা করেছি। আজ আপনাদের মাঝে Passage Narration
সম্পর্কে উদাহরণসহ বিস্তারিত আলোচনা করবো । তবে এই ব্লগটি দেখার পূর্বে Narration বা উক্তি সম্পর্কে মৌলিক ধারণা রাখা জরুরি। তাহলে শুরু করা যাক।

- যা জানা জরুরীঃ
- Narration কাকে বলে? এবং কত প্রকার ও কি কি?
- Tense এ Narration এর ব্যবহার।
- Sentence এ Narration এর ব্যবহার।
Passage Narration যাওয়ার পূর্বে আমরা কিছু
সংক্ষিপ্ত শব্দের পরিবর্তন দেখে নিই। কেননা Indirect speech করার সময় এই সংক্ষিপ্ত
শব্দগুলোকে পূর্ণরুপ ধরে Inderict speech এ রূপান্তর করতে হয়। যেমন –

Passage Narration এর পরিবর্তনঃ
Rule 1: সমস্ত Passage টি পড়ে Speaker (বক্তা)
এবং Person spoken to (শ্রোতা) নির্ণয় করতে হবে।
Rule 2: সমস্ত Passage এ শ্রোতার নাম উল্লেখ
না থাকলে বক্তা যাকে উদ্দেশ্য করে কথা বলছে সেই ব্যক্তিকে শ্রোতা (He/she) ধরে নিতে
হয়। যেমন –
Direct: Habib said, “Will you go to
college today?”
Indirect: Habib asked him/her if he/she would go to college that day.
Rule 3: Reporting verb টি মাঝে বা শেষে থাকলে
Indirect করার সময় Sentence এর শুরুতে নিয়ে আসতে হয়। যেমন –
Direct: “You look a little bit like my
mother,” Maha said to Shanzida.
Indirect: Maha told Shanzida that she
looked a little bit like his mother.
Rule 4: Direct speech এ Reported speech
এর মধ্যে একই বক্তার অধীনে দুই বা ততোধিক sentence (Assertive, interrogative,
imperative, optative, and exclamatory) থাকলে। এমন speech কে Indirect করার সময় প্রত্যকটি
Sentence কে “and” দ্বারা যুক্ত করে পরিবর্তন করতে হয়। যেমন –
Direct: Habib said to me, “I gave you a book yesterday, have you read it? Return the book within three days”
Indirect: Habib told me that he had
given me a book the previous day and asked if I had read that and told return
the book within three days.
নোটঃ একই বক্তার (Habib) অধীনে একাধিক বাক্য
হওয়ায় প্রত্যেকবার Subject উল্লেখ করার প্রয়োজন নেই।
Rule 5: Direct speech এ Reported speech
এর Sentence গুলো একই ধরনের হলে, তাদের পরিবর্তন করার নিয়ম –
Assertive sentence এর ক্ষেত্রেঃ
প্রথম বাক্যে – say/said, tell/told
দ্বিতীয় বাক্যে – and add / added
তৃতীয় বাক্যে – also add / added,
further add / added ইত্যাদি বসাতে হয়। যেমন –
Direct: Maha said to Shanzida, “I have
lost my book. My friend gave me it. Now I have to buy another”
Indirect: Maha told Shanzida that she
had lost her book and added that her friend had given her (M) that and also
added that she (M) had to buy another then.
Interrogative sentence এর ক্ষেত্রেঃ
প্রথম বাক্যে – ask / asked
দ্বিতীয় বাক্যে – and ask / asked
তৃতীয় বাক্যে – and also asked / and
further asked ইত্যাদি বসাতে হয়। যেমন –
Direct: Shanzida said to Sumaiya, “What
are you doing now? Will you not go to college today? Is there any problem for
you?”
Indirect: Shanzida asked Sumaiya what
she was doing then and asked if she would not go to college that day and also
asked if there was any problem with her.
Rule 6: Reported speech এ কারো নাম উল্লেখ
থাকলে তা indirect speech করার সময় Reporting verb এর পরে লিখতে হয়। যেমন –
Direct: She said, “Where are you going,
Shanzida?”
Indirect: She asked Shanzida where she
was going.
Rule 7: Reported speech এ যদি কাউকে সম্বোধন
করা হয় তাহলে “Addressing…..as” দিয়ে Indirect speech শুরু করতে হয়। যেমন –
Direct: “Come in my friend,” said I to
Habib
Indirect: Addressing Habib as my friend
I requested him to come in.
Rule 8: Reported speech এ “Sir” উল্লেখ থাকলে Indirect
speech এ “Sir” এর পরিবর্তে ‘respectfully বা politely’ ব্যবহার করতে হয়।
Direct: The boy said to the teacher,
“Excuse me, Sir?”
Indirect: The boy respectfully /
politely requested the teacher to excuse him.
Rule 9: Reported speech এ “yes বা no” থাকলে
Indirect speech করার সময় যথাক্রমে replied in the affirmative that এবং replied
in the negative that ব্যবহার করতে হয়। যেমন –
Direct: “Yes, I have finished reading
the book” I replied
Indirect: I replied in the affirmative
that I had finished reading the book.
নিম্নের এই তিনটি গঠন Tense এ Narration এর ব্যবহার পোষ্ট থেকে নেওয়াঃ
Rule 10: Direct speech এ Thank you থাকলে
তাকে Indirect করার সময় নিম্নের নিয়ম অনুসরণ করতে হয়।
গঠনপ্রণালীঃ Reporting verb এর Subject +
Thank/thanked + Reporting verb এর Object.
Direct: He said to me, “Thank you”
Indirect: He thanked me.
Rule 11: Direct speech এ Good bye থাকলে
তাকে Indirect করার সময় নিম্নের নিয়ম অনুসরণ করতে হয়।
গঠনপ্রণালীঃ Reporting verb এর Subject +
bid/bade + Object + good-bye.
Direct: He said, “Good-bye my friends”
Indirect: He bade his friends goodbye.
Rule 12: Direct speech এ Good
morning/good evening/good night ইত্যাদি থাকলে তাকে Indirect করার সময় নিম্নের নিয়ম
অনুসরণ করতে হয়।
গঠনপ্রণালীঃ Reporting verb এর Subject +
wish/wished + Object + good morning/good evening/good night.
Direct: He said to me, “Good night”
Indirect: He wished me good night.
