প্রিয় শিক্ষার্থীবন্ধুরা, আশা করি ভালো আছেন। আমিও আল্লাহর রহমতে ভালো আছি। গত ব্লগে ‘Right form of verbs এর ব্যবহার’ নিয়ে বিস্তারিত আলোচনা করেছি। আজকের ব্লগেও Right form of verbs এর গুরুত্বপূর্ণ কিছু ব্যবহার এবং উদাহরণসহ বিস্তারিত আলোচনা শেয়ার করবো। আশা করি আপনারা উপকৃত হবেন। তাহলে শুরু করা যাক।

Rule 25: Bare infinitive (যেমন- let,
make, see, behold, watch, hear, bid, need, dare, feel, cannot but, used to) এবং
Modal auxiliaries (যেমন – can, could, may, might, will, would, shall, should,
ought to, must) ও would rather, had better, have to, has to, to be ইত্যাদির পরের
Verb টি Present form হয়। যেমন –
Q. I let him (go) there.
A. I let him go there.
Q. I watched him (leave) the class.
A. I watched him leave the class.
Q. I cannot (do) the work.
A. I cannot do the work.
Rule 26: It is time, it is high time, অতীত
নির্দেশিত কোনো Word / Phrase বুঝাতে (ago, last night, yesterday, long since ইত্যাদি),
wish, fancy, as if, as though এর পরের verb Past form হয়। যেমন –
Q. It is time you (leave) the class.
A. It is time you left the class.
Q. Maha (arrive) there yesterday.
A. Maha arrived there yesterday.
Rule 27: Universal truth বুঝালে Verb সর্বদা
Present form হয়। যেমন –
Q. The sky (be) blue.
A. The sky is blue.
Q. The earth (move) around the sun.
A. The earth moves around the sun.
Rule 28: কিছু কিছু subordinate clause এর
verb, Tense এর বিভিন্ন form এর কারনে ভিন্ন হয়। নিম্নে তা উল্লেখ করা হলো –
➥ Subordinate adverbial clause of
condition এ Subordinate clause যদি Present indefinite tense হয় তবে তার Main
clause হবে Future indefinite tense।
উদাহরণঃ If you come, I will go.
➥ Subordinate clause যদি Past indefinite
tense হয় তবে Main clause এ subject এর পরে could/might/would বসে।
উদাহরণঃ If I lived in Dhaka, I could
see everything of Dhaka.
➥ Subordinate adverb of conditional
clause যদি Past perfect tense হয় তবে, Main clause এ Subject এর পরে Would have /
could have এবং verb টি Past participle হবে।
উদাহরণঃ If I had seen the sight, I
could have recognized it.
Rule 29: Preposition এর পরে যদি কোনো
Verb থাকে তাহলে এর সাথে ing যোগ করতে হবে। যেমন –
Q. Without (know), I will not condemn (তিরস্কার/নিন্দা)
her.
A. Without knowing, I will not condemn
her.
Rule 30: There এর ক্ষেত্রে Subject এর
Number / Person অনুযায়ী Verb Singular / Plural হয়। যেমন –
Q. There (be) a watch on the table.
A. There is/was a watch on the table.
Q. There (be) many boys in the class.
A. There are/were many boys in the
class.
Rule 31: Compound / Complex sentence এ একটা
Clause Past tense এ থাকলে অন্যটিও Past tense হয়। তবে Universal Truth এর ক্ষেত্রে
Present tense হয়। যেমন –
Q. When he finished the work, he (go)
to bed.
A. When he finished the work, he went
to bed.
Q. Maha said that the sky (be) blue.
(Universal Truth)
A. Maha said that the sky is blue.
Rule 32: Having ও to be এর পরবর্তী Verb
এর Past participle form বসে। যেমন –
Q. Having (stop) the rain, she went to the market.
A. Having stopped the rain, she went to the market.
Rule 33: All এর পরে Verb plural হয় কিন্তু
প্রবাদ বাক্যে এর পরে Verb singular হয়। যেমন –
Q. All men (be) present.
A. All men are/were present.
Q. All that (glitter) is not gold.
A. All that glitters is not gold.
Rule 34: কোনো বাক্য-এ নির্দিষ্ট পরিমাণ,
দৈর্ঘ্য, দুরুত্ব বুঝাতে Verb singular হয়। যেমন –
Q. Six miles (be) a long distance.
A. Six miles is a long distance.
Rule 35: কোনো বাক্যে জোর দেওয়া অর্থে বুঝালে
মূল Verb এর পূর্বে ‘do’ বসে। যেমন –
Q. I (do) hereby authorize you.
A. I do hereby authorize you.
নোটঃ Subject যদি 3rd Person
Singular Number হয় তাহলে do এর স্থলে does বসবে।
Rule 36: Interrogative sentence এ
Subject এর পূর্বে Auxiliary verb বসে এবং Subject এর পরে Main verb বসে। যেমন –
Q. What you (like)?
A. What do you like?
Q. You (read) a book yesterday?
A. Did you read a book yesterday?
