প্রিয় শিক্ষার্থীবন্ধুরা, আশা করি ভালো আছেন। আমিও আল্লাহর রহমতে ভালো আছি। গত ব্লগে ‘Right form of verbs এর ব্যবহার’ নিয়ে বিস্তারিত আলোচনা করেছি। আজকের ব্লগেও Right form of verbs এর গুরুত্বপূর্ণ কিছু ব্যবহার এবং উদাহরণসহ বিস্তারিত আলোচনা শেয়ার করবো। আশা করি আপনারা উপকৃত হবেন। তাহলে শুরু করা যাক।

Rule 13: A number of, a lot of, majority of এর পরে Plural noun থাকলে verb plural হয়। যেমন –

Q. A number of boys (be) present there.

A. A number of boys were present there.

Q. A lot of girls (dance) on the stage.

A. A lot of girls were dancing on the stage.

Rule 14: Singular subject, Plural noun ‘of’ দিয়ে যুক্ত হলেও verb singular হয়। যেমন –

Q. One of the boys (be) brave.

A. One of the boys is brave.

Rule 15: বাক্যের মধ্যে always, everyday, normally, sometimes, often, regularly, daily, generally ইত্যাদি থাকলে verb এর Present indefinite tense হয়। যেমন –

Q. He always (feel) tension.

A. He always feels tension.

নোটঃ

👉 Present indefinite tense এর গঠনপ্রণালীঃ Subject + verb + object.

👉 Present indefinite tense এ Subject যদি 3^rd person singular number হয় তাহলে verb এর শেষে Number ও Person অনুযায়ী s / es যোগ করতে হয়।

Rule 16: Already, ever, just, just now, recently, yet, lately ইত্যাদি থাকলে Present perfect tense হয়। যেমন –

Q. I already (forget) his name.

A. I have already forgotten his name.

Q. He (leave) the place just now.

A. He has left the place just now.

নোটঃ Present perfect tense এর গঠনপ্রণালীঃ Subject + have/has + Verb এর Past participle (v3) + Object.

Rule 17: Not only ……. But also এর ক্ষেত্রে শেষের Subject অনুযায়ী verb হয়। যেমন –

Q. Not only Maha but also Shanzida (do) the work.

A. Not only Maha but also Shanzida has done the work.

Rule 18: One-third, One-fourth ইত্যাদি বস্তুর ক্ষেত্রে Singular verb বসবে কিন্তু ব্যক্তির ক্ষেত্রে Plural verb হবে। যেমন –

Q. One-third of his answer (be) correct.

A. One-third of his answer is correct.

Q. One-third of the students (be) absent.

A. One-third of the students were absent.

নোটঃ One-third, One-fourth এর ক্ষেত্রে ভগ্নাংশ Plural হবে না অন্য সকল ক্ষেত্রে ভগ্নাংশ Plural হবে। যেমন –

Q. Two-thirds of the players (be) present.

A. Two-thirds of the players are present.

Rule 19: ‘One and a half’ Plural noun কিন্তু verb singular হবে। যেমন –

Q. One and a half lemons (be) enough.

A. One and a half lemons is enough.

Rule 20: Uncountable noun এর সাথে none of ব্যবহৃত হলে Verb টি Singular হবে। যেমন –

Q. None of the work (be) done.

A. None of the work was done.

 

Rule 21: কোনো Phrase, gerund, infinitive এবং Noun clause যদি Subject হিসেবে বসে তবে Verb singular হয়। যেমন –

Q. To err (be) human.

A. To err is human.

Q. Swimming (be) good exercise.

A. Swimming is good exercise.

Rule 22: Subject এবং Tense আলাদা হলে একই ধরনের Auxiliary verb বসে না। যেমন –

Q. I have left the class but he (enter) the class.

A. I have left the class but he has entered the class.

Rule 23: As well as, along with, with, together with, and not, in addition to, accompanied by ইত্যাদি শব্দগুলো কোনো বাক্যের মধ্যে বসলে তার পূর্বে Noun / Pronoun এর Number ও Person অনুযায়ী verb বসে। যেমন –

Q. Maha as well as his brother (come) here.

A. Maha as well as his brother has come here.

Q. They accompanied by their brother (arrive).

A. They accompanied by their brother have arrived.

Rule 24: Cannot help, cannot bear, be + used to, got used to, worth, with + gerund, by + gerund, with a view to, look forward to, feel like, mind, prefer, addicted to, devoted to ইত্যাদি পরে Verb এর সাথে ing যোগ হয়। যথা –

Q. I cannot bear (suffer).

A. I cannot bear suffering.

Q. The book is worth (read).

A. The book is worth reading.

Q. I went there with a view to (see) you.

A. I went there with a view to seeing you.
