Narration কাকে বলে ? এবং কত প্রকার ও কি কি ? উদাহরণসহ বর্ণনা

• Tense এ Narration এর ব্যবহার।
• Sentence এ Narration এর ব্যবহার।

Narration এর সংজ্ঞাঃ বক্তার বক্তব্য বা বিবৃতিকেই Narration বা উক্তি বলে।

 

Narration এর প্রকারভেদঃ Narration দুই প্রকার। যথাঃ

• Direct Narration / Speech বা প্রত্যক্ষ উক্তি।
• Indirect Narration / Speech বা পরোক্ষ উক্তি।

 

Direct Narration / Speech এর বর্ণনাঃ বক্তার কথা হুবহু অন্যের নিকট বর্ণনা করা হলে তাকে Direct Narration / Speech বা প্রত্যক্ষ উক্তি বলে। যেমন –

Maha said, “I read a book”

Direct Narration / Speech চিনার উপায়ঃ

⇘ Direct Narration দুটি অংশ নিয়ে গঠিত। একটিকে Reporting verb এবং অপরটিকে Reported verb বলে।

⇘ যে Verb বা ক্রিয়ার সাহায্যে উক্তিটি প্রকাশ করা হয় তাকে Reporting verb বলে।

⇘ Reporting verb এর পর একটি কমা বসবে।

⇘ Direct Narration এ বক্তার কথাগুলো Inverted comma (“”) এর মধ্যে লেখা হয়। আর Inverted comma (“”) এর ভিতরে যে Speech বা উক্তি থাকে তাকে Reported verb বলে।

⇘ Reported verb এ প্রথম ব্যবহৃত Parts of Speech টি প্রথম অক্ষর Capital letter হবে।

⇘ Direct speech যেখানে থাকুক না কেন অবশ্যই Inverted comma (“”) এর ভিতরে থাকবে।

 

উপরের উদাহরণ বিশ্লেষণঃ

Maha said (Reporting verb) + , + “I read a book” (Reported verb)

 

Indirect Narration / Speech এর বর্ণনাঃ বক্তার কথা পরোক্ষভাবে অন্যের নিকট বর্ণনা করা হলে তাকে Indirect Narration / Speech বা পরোক্ষ উক্তি বলে। যেমন – 

Maha said that she read a book.

নোটঃ

Direct Speech কে Indirect Speech এ পরিবর্তন করার সময় তিনটি ধাপ অনুসরণ করতে হয় –

• Person এর পরিবর্তন।
• Verb এর Tesne পরিবর্তন।
• নৈকট্যবাচক কতগুলো Word কে অনুরূপ দুরুত্ববাচক word এ পরিবর্তন করতে হয়।

 

নিম্নে এই তিনটি ধাপ সম্পর্কে বিস্তারিত আলোচনা দেওয়া হলো –

 

Person এর পরিবর্তনঃ

⇘ Reported Speech এর অন্তর্গত First person সর্বদা Reporting Verb এর Subject এর Gender, Number ও Person অনুযায়ী পরিবর্তিত হয়। যেমন –

Direct: He says, “I am eating rice”

Indirect: He says that he is eating rice.

 

⇘ Reported Speech এর অন্তর্গত Second person সর্বদা Reporting Verb এর Object এর Gender, Number ও Person অনুযায়ী পরিবর্তিত হয়। যেমন –

Direct: He says to me, “You should go there”

Indirect: He tells me that I should go there.

Direct: He said to me, “You have done your duty”

Indirect: He told me that I had done my duty.

নোটঃ Reporting Verb এ ‘said to’ থাকলে তার পরিবর্তে told বসে।

 

⇘ Reported Speech এর অন্তর্গত Third person এর কোনো পরিবর্তন হয় না। যেমন –

Direct: You say to me, “Maha is a good girl”

Indirect: You tell me that Maha is a good girl.

Person এর ব্যতিক্রম কিছু ব্যবহারঃ

⇘ “We” দ্বারা মানবজাতি বুঝালে First Person হওয়া সত্ত্বেও Indirect Speech এ “we” এর কোনো পরিবর্তন হয় না। যেমন –

Direct: The teacher said, “We are mortal”

Indirect: The teacher said that we are mortal.

⇘ “We” যদি বক্তা ও যাকে উদ্দেশ্য করে উভয়কে বুঝায় তাহলে Indirect Speech এ “we” এর কোনো পরিবর্তন হয় না। যেমন –

Direct: He said to me, “We should do our duty”

Indirect: He told me that we should do our duty.

⇘ দৈনিক খবর এর সম্পাদকীয় (Editorial) “We” Indirect Speech এ “It” এ পরিবর্তিত হয়। যেমন –

Direct: The Ittefaq says, “We published that report on environmental pollution”

Indirect: The Ittefaq says that it had published that report on environmental pollution.

 

 

Tense এর পরিবর্তনঃ

যদি Reporting verb / speech টি Past Tense এ থাকে, তাহলে নিম্নলিখিত নিয়ম অনুসরণ করতে হবে –

Direct speech কে Indirect করার সময় Reported speech এর কতগুলো নৈকট্যবাচক শব্দ কে দুরুত্ববাচক শব্দে পরিবর্তন করতে হয়। যেমন –

Tomorrow	The next day/ The following day
Yesterday	The previous day
Day after tomorrow	In two days time

Yet	By that time

 

Must এর ব্যবহারঃ

⇘ Must সাধারণত “had to” তে রূপান্তরিত হয়। যেমন –

Direct: Maha said, “I must write a letter”

Indirect: Maha said that she had to write a letter.

⇘ First person এ “must” কোনো ভবিষ্যৎ কাজের দ্বারা বাধ্যবাধকতা বুঝাতে Indirect Speech এ would have to তে রূপান্তরিত হয়। যেমন –

Direct: He said, “We must leave the house if the rent is increased”

Indirect: He said that they would have to leave the house if the rent was increased.

⇘ কিন্তু চিরকালীন বাধ্যবাধকতা বুঝালে “must” এর কোনো পরিবর্তন হয় না। যেমন –

Direct: Father said to his son, “You must obey your parents”

Indirect: Father told his son that he must obey your parents

 

This ও These এর ব্যবহারঃ

⇘ যদি this দ্বারা সময় নির্দেশ করে তাহলে this পরিবর্তিত হয়ে that বসে। যেমন –

Direct: Habib said, “I am leaving Chandpur this month”

Indirect: Habib said that he was leaving Chandpur this month.

⇘ কিন্তু this/these/that যখন Adjective হিসেবে ব্যবহৃত হয় তখন this এবং that সাধারণত “the” তে রুপান্তরিত হয়। যেমন –

Direct: Sakib said, “I gave him this ring on his birthday”

Indirect: Sakib said that he had given him the ring on his birthday.

⇘ This/these Pronoun হিসেবে ব্যবহৃত হলে Indirect speech এ this/these পরিবর্তিত হয়ে it/they/the হয়। যেমন –

Direct: I said to him, “I bought a book for you, I would like to present this book on your birthday”

Indirect: I told him that I had bought a book for him and I would like to present it on his birthday.
