A Drowning Man Catches at a Straw: The hope to live is eternal in human
beings. Nobody wants to die in this beautiful world. When death comes before a
man he tries his best to escape himself. The fright of death makes a man
totally helpless or in other words, we can say that a dying man is a helpless
one. Like a helpless man, a dying man grasps everything to escape from
the hands of death. To save himself a drowning man catches hold of a straw
though the straw is a very trifling thing. The drowning man knows it better
that the straw won’t be able to afloat him, still, he catches hold of it. In our
society, there are some people whom we don’t count or value, but when we are
endangered or helpless we see the rays of hope that they may help us though we
know that their help won’t come to any use. In fact, a man does not give up hope
to live when he finds himself at the mouth of death. The spring of hope in a
man helps him to live in this world. If the sun of hope does not rise in a man
he won’t struggle to live and ultimately he might die.

যায় মৃত্যুপথযাত্রী ব্যক্তি অসহায়। একজন অসহায় লোকের মতো একজন মৃত্যুপথযাত্রীও সবকিছু
আঁকড়ে ধরে মৃত্যুর হাত থেকে নিজেকে বাঁচানোর জন্য। নিজেকে বাঁচানোর জন্য একজন ডুবন্ত
লোক একটি খড় আঁকড়ে ধরে যদিও তা খুবই তুচ্ছ জিনিস। একজন ডুবন্ত লোক খুব ভালো করেই জানে
যে ঐ খড় তাকে ভাসাতে পারবে না, তবু সে তা আঁকড়ে ধরে। আমাদের সমাজে এমন কিছু লোক আছে
যাদের আমরা মূল্য দেইনা কিন্তু যখন আমরা বিপদগ্রস্ত বা অসহায় হয়ে পড়ি তখন আশার রশ্মি
দেখতে পাই যে তারা আমাদের সাহায্যে আসতে পারে যদিও আমরা জানি যে, তাদের সাহায্য আমাদের
কোনো কাজে আসবে না। প্রকৃতপক্ষে একজন মানুষ মৃত্যুর মুখে এসেও বাঁচার আশা ত্যাগ করে
না। আশার ঝারনাই মানুষকে বেঁচে থাকতে সাহায্য করে। মানুষের মধ্যে আশার সূর্যোদয় না
হলে সে লড়ত না এবং এমনিতেই মারা যেত।
