Ballot is Stronger Than Bullet: In a democratic country, a man’s
democratic right is expressed through the ballot. The countryman elects their
chosen candidates to form the government in a democratic country. So in a
democratic country bullet plays no role in forming the government and here
ballot is stronger than the bullet. A truly democratic bullet can do anything,
it cannot change the mind of the general people. The candidates have to win the
minds of the general people to win the election. A bullet can enforce a man
to do anything but it is totally impossible to win the minds of the people by
frightening them with the bullet. We never see an election candidate campaign with a
bullet in a democratic country. If a bullet were stronger than a ballot, the
election candidates would use it in their campaigns. When in a democratic
country bullet becomes stronger than a ballot it turns into an autocratic
country. In an autocratic country, the autocratic government rules the country by
frightening the people. But the use of bullet by any election candidate in a
democratic country man worsen his political field. So the political leaders and
the election candidates try to persuade the general people by good manners or
good activities. In fine we can say that ballot is stronger than the bullet in a
truly democratic country but not in an autocratic country.
বঙ্গানুবাদঃ গণতান্ত্রিক রাষ্ট্রে মানুষের
গণতান্ত্রিক অধিকার প্রকাশিত হয় ভোটের মাধ্যমে। গণতান্ত্রিক রাষ্ট্র গঠন করার জন্যই
জনগণ তাদের পছন্দসই প্রার্থী নির্বাচন করে। তাই গণতান্ত্রিক রাষ্ট্র কাঠামোতে সরকার
গঠনে বন্দুকের কোনো ভূমিকা থাকে না এবং এখানেই বুলেটের চেয়ে ব্যালট অধিকতর শক্তিশালী।
সত্যিকার গণতান্ত্রিক রাষ্ট্রে বুলেট কিছুই করতে পারে না, সাধারণ মানুষের মনোভাবও পরিবর্তন
করতে পারে না। নির্বাচনে জয়লাভ করতে হলে প্রার্থীদের সাধারণ জনগণের মন জয় করতে হবে।
বুলেটের ভয় দেখিয়ে একজন লোকের মাধ্যমে হয়তো কিছু করিয়ে নেওয়া যায় কিন্তু এ দিয়ে ভয়
দেখিয়ে তাদের মন জয় করা যায় না। গণতান্ত্রিক রাষ্ট্রে নির্বাচনি প্রচারণায় প্রার্থীদের
কখনও আমরা অস্ত্র ব্যবহার করতে দেখিনি। যদি বুলেট ভোটের চেয়ে অধিকতর শক্তিশালী হতো
তবে নির্বাচনি প্রার্থিরা তাদের প্রচারণায় এর ব্যবহার করত। গণতান্ত্রিক দেশে যখন অস্ত্র
ভোটের চেয়ে অধিকতর শক্তিশালী হয় তখন তা স্বৈরতান্ত্রিক রাষ্ট্রে পরিণত হয়। একনায়কতান্ত্রিক
রাষ্ট্রে, সরকারপ্রধান লোকজনদের বন্দুকের ভয় দেখিয়ে শাসনকার্য পরিচালনা করে। কিন্তু
গণতান্ত্রিক রাষ্ট্রে এর ব্যবহার একজন প্রার্থীর রাজনৈতিক প্রতিষ্ঠাকে ব্যর্থ করে দেয়।
তাই রাজনৈতিক নেতা ও নির্বাচনী প্রার্থীরা তাদের সদাচরণ বা সৎকার্যাবলির মাধ্যমে জনগনের মন জয় করতে চায়। পরিশেষে আমরা বলতে
পারি যে, গণতান্ত্রিক রাষ্ট্রে বুলেটের চেয়ে ব্যালট অধিকতর শক্তিশালী যদিও একনায়কতন্ত্রে
তা অবান্তর।
