Paragraph On Parliamentary Election
The election is the main cornerstone in
the parliamentary democracy for selecting representatives. The parliamentary
system of government is nowadays one of the most practiced systems of
government in the world which is ensured by a parliamentary election. The
parliamentary system of election is a multi-party system of election. People
elect their representatives in parliament through the exercise of the adult
franchise. The Prime Minister is appointed by the majority party in the
parliament and also by the government. All representatives are
accountable to the people of the country through parliament. Almost all the
powers are vested in the Prime Minister, and the President becomes the
ceremonial head of the state. But the reverse of this practice is also seen in
different countries of the world. That means, the President is vested with the
executive powers of the republic. The opposition parties play a very vital role
in the development of the country. December 29, 2008, is a red latter-day in the
history of Bangladesh as the country went for the ninth parliamentary election
after seven years, instead of five, to restore democracy. The people used their
valuable weapon of voting to choose their representatives for a new parliament.
