Essay On Reading Newspaper as a Habit or Importance of Newspaper in Man’s Life
Introduction: The word “NEWS” namely
denotes the North, the East, the West, and the South. The paper on which the news from
both home and abroad is published is a newspaper. It is a current history and
literature in a hurry. It is a storehouse of knowledge. So everyone should go
through the newspaper to become familiar with the current world, science and
technology, literature and society, sports and music, etc.
Kinds: Newspapers are of various types
such as dailies, weeklies, fortnightlies, monthlies, yearlies, etc. The
well-known newspapers in Bangladesh are the Bangladesh Observer, The
Janakantha, The Prothom Alo, The Daily Ittefaq etc. Each and every newspaper contains
all sorts of news and views of home and abroad.
Contents of newspapers: Newspapers also
play a very important role in our lives. We cannot think of our life without
them. They are as essential as morning tea or breakfast. People can know the
unknown from a study of newspapers. News of all kinds like political news, economic
reports, kidnapping, dowry, exploitation, business reports, commercial news,
news of games and sports, weather reports, market situations and prices of daily
essential commodities can be had in the newspapers.
Importance: We can measure the importance
of newspapers in the modern world if we realize the mechanical speed of
newspaper production. It also plays an important role in the society. Newspaper
is supposed to be a great power. Newspapers act as watchdogs of democracy,
human rights, and individual freedom. They are not only mass media but also much
more of it. Newspapers fill the gaps existing between the government and the
governed along with the administration by working as a bridge and a meaningful
means of dialogue. They keep and make the public informed of the policies,
programs, and plans adopted by the government and record the people’s reactions,
views, opinions, etc. Newspapers bear the responsibility and accountability and
do not allow any room for yellow journalism, biased or convinced reporting, sensationalism,
nepotism, favouritism, or unethical practices. They are impartial, fair,
fearless, investigative, and responsible for public obligations. Newspapers never
thrive or survive on Sensationalism but motivate news, views, interviews,
editorials, etc. They are a great weapon or instrument for public good or evil.
They can help to promote commercial harmony, national unity, integrity,
brotherhood, and the removal of superstitions and other social evils. Newspapers are
the cheapest and richest source of the latest news, information, views, comments,
commodity quotations, etc. They keep the knowledge of the readers updated and
upgraded. They are vitally an encyclopedia of day-to-day knowledge.
Necessity of its freedom: Considering
the importance of newspapers they must be given the full freedom so that they
can criticize, condemn, warm, encourage, and appreciate the works of the govt.
Newspapers are the vigilant and investigative journals. They are the brave
journalists who can expose, disclose, and unveil the scandals, scans, misdeeds, and corruptions of the government throughout the globe.
Conclusion: In our country, newspapers
are found both in Bangla and English. They act as a mirror through which we can
have a full view of the world. No civilized nation, no human society can go
even for a single day without newspapers.
