Develop Rural Road Network
Staff Correspondent, Dhaka, August 03, 2023 – The government has taken up a six-year project to develop a rural road
network and marketing facilities for agricultural products in 23 districts
under three divisions – Dhaka, Chittagong, and Rajshahi.
The project titled ‘Second Rural Infrastructure
Improvement Project (RIIP2) involving about 280 million US dollars will be
implemented from July 2008 to 2015.
The ADB, K/W, GTZ, and DFID will jointly
fund the project, apart from the government’s contribution.
The project will also help generate
employment for the rural people, said speakers at the inaugural ceremony of a workshop
on “Rural Road Master Plan and Local Government yesterday, organized by the Local
Government Engineering Department (LGED).
