Earthquake Disaster: An earthquake is a sudden violent shaking of a part of the earth’s surface caused by a deep crack in the earth or by a volcanic eruption. Some regions of the earth are prone to earthquakes while others are comparatively safe from this natural disaster. This region is called the active earthquake zone. Japan, Iran, Bangladesh, and some other countries lie in the active zone. These countries are frequently hit by earthquakes. Like storms or cyclones casting regarding the occurrence of earthquakes is not possible. So earthquake causes great disaster in earthquake-hit areas. A severe earthquake causes widespread destruction of human life and property. People are crushed under the broken houses when a severe quake hits a populous city, and thousands of people are killed and injured. Many people are trapped in broken houses and it takes days to rescue them. Sometimes havoc is so severe that rescue work becomes impossible. Recently a severe earthquake hit port-o-prince, the capital city of Haytee. About two lac people were killed. Almost all the buildings, roads, and other establishments were collapsed. The people who were alive had to go to the villages since the capital city became inhabitable. The country had to shift its capital city to another place. Several mild earthquakes hit Bangladesh recently. There is the possibility of a severe earthquake hit in Bangladesh. So, we should be careful of this disaster. The only way to get rid of the ravages of this natural disaster is to build houses, bridges, and roads in such a planned way that can resist the tremor. The people should be trained in earthquake management.
