proverb is that though adversity is thought of as a curse, it has its uses also.
Adversity is the touchstone of life. A man in adversity knows well how keen is
the need for sympathy and kindness because he himself longs for them. As a
result when anyone falls in distress. He feels for them sincerely and helps
them to the best of his power. Besides, when everything goes on well with us,
we are tempted to take matters easy and fall into a life of comfort and
idleness. But it is adversity that prompts us to exert ourselves. This
develops our latent power which enables us to prosper in life. It also enables
us to know true friends and false ones, because the latter desert us in
adversity, and only the former stick to us. So a man who has never tasted the
bitters of adversity can not distinguish the good and the bad. Thus adversity
has its beneficial aspects too.

হয় তখন সে তাদেরকে আন্তরিকভাবে উপলব্ধি করে এবং সার্বিকাভাবে সাহায্য করতে চেষ্টা করে।
তাছাড়াও আমরা আরাম-আয়েশ ও অলসভাবে জীবনযাপন করতে থাকি যখন কোনো ধরনের চাপ আমাদের উপর
থাকে না। এ সময়টায় বাস্তবতাকে আমরা ভুলে যাই। কিন্তু দুঃখ-কষ্টই আমাদের সম্বিত ফিরিয়ে
দেয়। এটি জীবনের সফলতা অর্জনের লক্ষ্যে লুক্কায়িত শক্তিকে জাগ্রত করে দেয়। বন্ধুত্ব
যাচাইয়ের ক্ষেত্রেও দুঃখ আমাদের সহায়তা করে কেননা বিপদগ্রস্ত অবস্থায় একমাত্র সত্যিকার
বন্ধুকেই কাছে পাওয়া যায়, নকল বন্ধুকে নয়। যে লোক জীবনে কখনও কষ্টের ছোঁয়া পায় নি সে
কখনও ভালো ও মন্দকে আলাদা করে চিনতে পারবে না। তাই দুঃখেরও উপকারী গুণ রয়েছে।
