Paragraph On Cricket

Cricket is the name of a popular game in the present world. It is an outdoor game. The history of this interesting game is quite old. It is not a game of our country. It is the national game of the British which is its birthplace. A cricket match is played between two teams. Each team consists of eleven players. A cricket field must be spacious. It must have a turf. Two wooden bats, a ball, and two sets of stumps are also required. Generally, the duration of a cricket match is 100 overs with a tea break. Two umpires conduct the game. Sometimes, a third umpire is required to solve acute confusion. Each over consists of six bowls. Before the beginning of the game, a tossing takes place to select the “fielding group” and “batting group”. The batsman tries to make a good score by saving himself. The batsman may be out in many ways such as “bowled out”, “run out”, “stumped out” and “caught out” etc. Availing opportunities the batsman hits the ball away at a good distance, and runs to the opposite wicket. The batsman of the other wicket runs to his place. Thus one run is scored. If the ball crosses the boundary line, four runs are made. If the ball flies over the boundary, six runs are scored; if any batsman is out, the next batsman comes into his place. After the interval, the “fielding group” comes to bat and the batting party goes to the field. Both teams try heart and soul to cause a batsman of the opposition team to be out. The team which can score more runs wins the game. A cricket match teaches us patience, steadiness, cooperation, obedience, promptness, and teamwork.
