Plenty and prosperity attract many people. They come with different motives and befriend a man who is in prosperous conditions. But a real test of their friendship comes when the man falls into difficulty. When he is in difficulty he cannot help others; so those who had befriended him in his palmy days in order to realize their selfish ends would now forsake him. Thus all false friends and self-seekers would shrink him aside and only those few who have a genuine love for him would continue to remain as his friends in all circumstances.
