The Utilities and Evils of the Internet
Internet means a computer-based network
of information systems. The activities of the internet are very smooth, easy, and
rapid. A man can dial a number from his computer and a link to the internet
will soon give him a connection in and outside of the country according to his
expectation. This invention of modern science has made it possible for us to
enter into a world of limitless choice. It has made the whole world a global
village. We can communicate or may get some kind of information with the help of the Internet. The uses of the internet are worldwide.
There is something for everyone on the internet. We can get information about new books, movies, the latest news, music,
medicine, invention, etc. from it. With the help of the internet, it is possible to
send mail electronically to any part of the world. It is cheap, fast and
there is no hassle of stamps and envelopes. Another advantage is that we can
see emails whenever we want. This is not all. We can send pictures, even sounds
with the message. For a businessman, there is a trade net that gives business
contacts all over the world as well as a variety of information covering all
aspects of business.
We may use the computer as a fax
machine too just by sending the email instructions to a fax gateway server and
it will send our message to the given fax number. The Internet is a magic tool with
which we can participate in real-life conversations where we can see each other
and hear voices. But to utilize this facility, the participants must have sound
cards, microphones, and cameras in their computers. Another characteristic of the internet
is that it gives freedom to chat with anyone, join any group, create our own
group, our own book, our own music, etc.
All these made the internet a famous
technical wizard for freedom of expression and creation. The time is not far
when people will not need to go anywhere and will do every work through the Internet
whether it is studying or traveling. Thus in view of the various kinds of uses
of the internet, it is hoped that science will develop this system further and make
it more efficient for the benefit of mankind.
